Team History
The Valparaiso Beacons football program boasts a rich history dating back to 1919. The team, a member of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), competes in the Pioneer Football League. The Valparaiso Beacons, as with many long-standing sports programs, have undergone name changes throughout their history. Known initially as the Valparaiso Uhlans, and then for many years as the Crusaders, the university settled on the Beacons moniker in 2021.
