This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies, such as the storage of your browser, that ForBets uses. We use only what the site needs to work and to remember your choices. At the time of writing we do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a site stores in your browser. Browsers also offer local storage and session storage, which work in a similar way and which we describe here together with cookies.
Essential: signing in and security
These keep you signed in and protect your account. The site cannot work without them, so they are set without asking.
- A session marker cookie, which only says that you have a session, so that pages of your account are shown to you and not to a guest.
- An access cookie and a refresh cookie, which prove who you are. The refresh cookie is not readable by scripts of the page. They are removed when you sign out or when the session ends.
- A short-lived cookie that stops the site from repeating an attempt to restore your session when that attempt fails.
- Local storage named forbets-auth, which keeps your profile and a short-lived access token in this browser, so that a reload does not sign you out.
Preferences: remembering your choices
- A cookie that remembers your time zone, so that match times are shown in your own zone from the first page.
- Local storage named forbets-odds-format, which remembers whether you want decimal, American or fractional odds.
- Local storage named forbets-recent-searches, which keeps your last searches in the search field, only on your device.
- Session storage that remembers where you were in a list, such as filters and the page, so that Back returns you to it, and the state of a payment in progress. It is cleared when you close the tab.
Counting visitors
Local storage named forbets-device-id holds a random identifier, which lets us count how many different visitors have opened a pick or a story, also when they are not signed in. It is not used to follow you across other sites.
Third parties
When you pay by card you leave ForBets for the secure page of our payment provider, and when you sign in with Google or Apple you use their pages. They set their own cookies under their own policies. Banners of our partners lead to their sites, which have their own cookies as well. We do not control them.
How to control them
You can delete cookies and storage, or block them, in the settings of your browser. If you block the essential ones you will not be able to sign in. Clearing the storage resets your preferences and signs you out.
If we add cookies that need your consent, such as analytics or advertising ones, we will ask for it first and update this policy.
Changes
We may update this policy when we change what we use. The date at the top shows the latest version.
