Ohtani, back in Dodgers' lineup, likely won't pitch rest of season - ESPN

LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani confirmed Monday night he is «most likely» not going to pitch again this season, a growing reality given his recent injuries and the shrinking calendar, adding that he is «focusing on hitting moving forward.» «Disappointing,» Ohtani, speaking through an interpreter, said of essentially scrapping his two-way ambitions. «But I want to make sure that when I look back this season that I used this as an experience, a learning experience, and make sure that I use that as something to improve upon for next season.» First, though, Ohtani needs to worry about his health for this campaign. Monday marked his return to the Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup after a four-day absence prompted by an accumulation of ailments that manifested themselves in an ugly 10th-inning at-bat Wednesday night, during which he was clearly in pain. Ohtani, who went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk in a 6-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Labor Day, expressed discomfort along the right side of his neck and into his arm Wednesday night. But he also has spent months dealing with soreness in his left knee. And he saw a right biceps issue from earlier this season flare up during an Aug.

Man City-bound 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan is MLS’s chaotic revelation

The Philadelphia Union midfielder has gotten his longest run of game time since turning pro, and the data is tantalizing There’s a video from a United States U-15 camp three years ago that will make your head spin. It’s a routine training session for the boys on the pitch except one, a head shorter and a year or two younger than the others, who’s practicing with the national team for the first time. Is the boy nervous? He is not. A pass floats into the box and he checks his run, tries to get under it, but the ball is too high for his 13-year-old head to reach. He doesn’t even jump. As the cross sails over him, he flings himself forward like Superman and flicks a heel up behind his back, catching the ball with a scorpion kick that bounces straight into the path of a teammate for a cartoon assist. Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham have been stalked. They’re far from alone in the WNBA

Players generally welcome interacting with their fans. But as the league’s popularity surges, there are dangers to be aware of Caitlin Clark spent most of the 2025 WNBA season sidelined with a series of injuries that forced her to miss more than 30 games. But she also spent part of the season (and the preceding offseason) quietly navigating a tumultuous and scary reality: a 55-year-old man was stalking her , and he was convinced they were in a relationship. That man, Michael Lewis, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison last July. Lewis sent Clark “hundreds” of messages – many of which were “threats and sexually explicit” – between 12 December 2024 and 11 January 2025. Lewis, who is from Texas, was arrested at a hotel in Indianapolis, where Clark plays for the Indiana Fever . The case took a toll on Clark: she said she feared for her safety and had changed her appearance in public. Continue reading...

About the news

How the news of ForBets works

Where the stories come from, how your feed is made and how to get an alert, with the terms of the news pages.

How the news feed works

The stories are collected from the news sources of the sports we cover, and each one says where it comes from. For some of them only the opening and a link to the original are shown: the full text is read on the site of the publisher, who owns it.

News has three tabs. Your feed shows the stories of the sports you follow, Discover shows every sport, and Saved holds the stories you kept to read later. You can search by headline or topic, narrow the list to one sport, and mark everything as read.

Yes. In your account, under Sports & alerts, choose the sports you follow and how you want to hear about each one: in the app, by push or by email. The bell in the header collects the new stories of your sports and the new picks of the analysts you follow.

News is for reading and does not recommend bets. For picks, open the list of matches and compare the analysts by their records. The two are kept apart on purpose: a story is a report, and a pick is an opinion that its author answers for.
