Sedins make special appearance on CBC's 'The National'

It’s not every day the Vancouver Canucks get a 10-minute feature on The National, but that’s exactly what happened Sunday evening, thanks to Henrik and Daniel Sedin. It’s further proof that the Sedin name carries a lot of weight not only in Vancouver, but across Canada as well. Speaking with CBC News’ Ian Hanomansing, the Sedins spoke about a number of high-level topics as they embark on their first season as Canucks co-presidents. Having co-presidents might seem problematic if we didn’t already know so much about the Sedin twins. Somehow, for them, it just makes sense. “Anyone who works in these positions would love someone to bounce ideas off and discuss things, and be open about solutions and questions that come up,” Henrik said. “I think it’s a dream place for both of us [to be] in this role. There’s nothing negative about it.” “We discuss things,” Daniel said, insisting they don’t argue. “Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t.” Henrik and Daniel, along with new general manager Ryan Johnson, have had a clear message since taking over. Importantly, they haven’t been afraid to embrace a rebuild. The moves they’ve made since appear to follow that logic, so it’s no wonder that they’ve largely been applauded by the fan base. Whether they all work out in the team’s favour has yet to be determined, but it appears that, unlike the past two management regimes, this group won’t be desperately looking for shortcuts to success. “All you can do is make sure that the process is being done the right way,” said Daniel. “Every decision is being made after collaborating and doing due diligence. If you have the right process and you do decisions the right way, I think that will set you up for success. And this organization is set up for success.” You might also like: - Canucks' Elias Pettersson says he's 'excited to play hockey again' - Boeser feels 'way older' now and ready to mentor young Canucks players - Two former Canucks players are current NHL captains after Bo Horvat gets the C

Former Oilers and Flames goalie has finally found a new home in free agency

Cam Talbot appears to have extended his NHL career for at least one more season. It appeared as though the 39-year-old’s NHL career may be finished after waiting months on the free-agent market, but he was instead able to find a new home right ahead of training camp. On Monday morning, TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reported that Talbot is expected to sign a one-year, $950,000 deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Blue Jackets reporter Aaron Portzline also recently speculated that this move may take place. > Hearing the Blue Jackets will be signing UFA veteran goalie Cam Talbot, 39, to a one-year deal ($950k) later today. Colleague @Aportzline speculated in his piece today that this might possibly happen. > > — Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) September 14, 2026 While Jet Greaves is pencilled in as the Blue Jackets’ starter, Talbot is expected to fill in as his backup, at least for a period of time. Elvis Merzlikins, who was expected to have that role, is out of the lineup for the foreseeable future after undergoing shoulder surgery last month. Talbot brings a ton of experience to the Blue Jackets, having logged 567 career games at the NHL level. This past season saw him suit up for 34 games with the Detroit Red Wings, where he posted a 3.19 GAA along with a .883 SV%. While Talbot has had many stops in his NHL career, one of his more memorable stints was with the Edmonton Oilers from 2015 to 2019. He served as the organization’s starting goaltender for the vast majority of that stint, including the 2016-17 season, which saw him appear in a career-high 73 games. Another one of Talbot’s stops came with the Calgary Flames during the 2019-20 campaign. He impressed in his lone season in Cowtown, posting a 2.63 GAA and a .919 SV% in 26 appearances. Though Talbot no longer has to stress about finding a new home, there are plenty of other impactful players who cannot say the same. There are still plenty of intriguing names who remain up for grabs, including Vladimir Tarasenko, Michael Bunting, Evander Kane, and Logan Stanley. How the news of ForBets works

Where the stories come from, how your feed is made and how to get an alert, with the terms of the news pages.

The stories are collected from the news sources of the sports we cover, and each one says where it comes from. For some of them only the opening and a link to the original are shown: the full text is read on the site of the publisher, who owns it.

News has three tabs. Your feed shows the stories of the sports you follow, Discover shows every sport, and Saved holds the stories you kept to read later. You can search by headline or topic, narrow the list to one sport, and mark everything as read.

Yes. In your account, under Sports & alerts, choose the sports you follow and how you want to hear about each one: in the app, by push or by email. The bell in the header collects the new stories of your sports and the new picks of the analysts you follow.

News is for reading and does not recommend bets. For picks, open the list of matches and compare the analysts by their records. The two are kept apart on purpose: a story is a report, and a pick is an opinion that its author answers for.
