Brighton rout Arsenal to end Premier League champions' 100% record - ESPN

Premier League champions Arsenal lost their 100% record for the season in dramatic fashion as they were routed 3-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion. First-half strikes from Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas put the home side in control at the break, before summer signing Chema Andrés added a third from a corner on his full home debut. The Spaniard's header meant that Arsenal — which had been defensively excellent this season — conceded as many goals on Saturday as they had done in the rest of the season combined. After a cagey opening on the south coast, the game sparked into life on the half-hour mark when the in-form Gross found himself with time and space on the edge of the box.

Asian Games boxing draw set as Marcial status up in air

MANILA, Philippines – The timing could hardly be more complicated. The boxing draw for the 2026 Asian Games will be held today, just hours after Eumir Marcial's bout against Omar Huerta in Temecula, California. The result and Marcial's physical condition after the fight will determine whether the Tokyo 2021 Olympic bronze medalist can fly to Japan and compete in the 80kg division starting Sept. 23. "Mahirap umasa. Very stressful umasa," said Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) president Marcus Manalo. "I think malabo na. Mabigat din ang kalaban niya. If he wins, ano ang condition niya? Kung makahabol siya, may jetlag pa siyang haharapin," he added. Huerta, 30, an American of Mexican descent, is no patsy with a 15-1-1 (13 KOs) record. Marcial is unbeaten in seven pro fights. Another concern for Manalo is Marcial's hands. "Laging na-i-injure, at matagal ang recovery," he said. In the end, it will be up to Marcial if he can catch up with Team Philippines in time to be included in the draw. If he makes it, it will be his third Asian Games stint after a bronze in 2018 Jakarta-Palembang and silver in 2023 Hangzhou. But with or without Marcial, the Philippine boxing team looks poised to end a long Asian Games gold drought with a crack roster led by Olympic medalists Nesthy Petecio, Aira Villegas and Carlo Paalam. Their roads to glory will be determined in Sunday's draw. TMT

F1: World championship leader Kimi Antonelli wins Spanish GP

Kimi Antonelli extended his lead in the world championship with his eighth victory of the season at the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix at the Madring on Sunday. The 20-year-old Mercedes driver finished clear of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Lando Norris (McLaren) and is now 81 points ahead of nearest rival, his Mercedes teammate George Russell, in the title race.Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) finished fourth ahead of fellow Briton Russell and Liam Lawson in the second Red Bull.Franco Colapinto (Alpine), Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls) and Niko Hulkenberg (Audi) rounded out the top 10.Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who had scored points in every race this season, missed out completely, retiring his Ferrari on lap seven because of brake failure.George Russell was another big loser, with the Mercedes driver suffering badly from his team’s decision to put him on two-stop strategy - the only one of the main runners to have this - which blew his chances of podium and left him even further behind his teammate in the title race.Norris will also rue his team’s poor strategy. The reigning world champion drove a blistering lap on Saturday to claim pole position and was leading comfortably until the intervention of the virtual safety car (VSC) on lap 15.While Antonelli and Verstappen immediately dived into the pits to change their tyres McLaren kept Norris out for an extra lap.As he prepared to come in, the VSC finished meaning he lost time against his rivals, and the Briton wasn’t helped by a slow pitstop of seven seconds.By the time he came out Norris was down in fifth with Leclerc, who hadn’t boxed, and George Russell also ahead of him.He clawed his way past Russell and moved into third when

About the news

How the news of ForBets works

Where the stories come from, how your feed is made and how to get an alert, with the terms of the news pages.

How the news feed works

The stories are collected from the news sources of the sports we cover, and each one says where it comes from. For some of them only the opening and a link to the original are shown: the full text is read on the site of the publisher, who owns it.

News has three tabs. Your feed shows the stories of the sports you follow, Discover shows every sport, and Saved holds the stories you kept to read later. You can search by headline or topic, narrow the list to one sport, and mark everything as read.

Yes. In your account, under Sports & alerts, choose the sports you follow and how you want to hear about each one: in the app, by push or by email. The bell in the header collects the new stories of your sports and the new picks of the analysts you follow.

News is for reading and does not recommend bets. For picks, open the list of matches and compare the analysts by their records. The two are kept apart on purpose: a story is a report, and a pick is an opinion that its author answers for.
