Frequently asked questions

This page answers the most common questions about ForBets, a marketplace of sports predictions: how to sign in, how to pay for picks and subscriptions, and how the ratings of analysts are calculated.

Every analyst has three numbers, and each one answers a different question.

Win rate
Wins divided by wins and losses, in percent. Pending and void picks are not counted. Under 30 settled picks it is marked as a small sample.
Trust score
A number from 0 to 100 built from the points of settled picks, explained below. It stays empty (—) until the analyst has a settled win or loss.
Reviews
The stars, from 1 to 5, that readers give after a settled pick.

The points are a balance. Every settled pick adds points when it wins and takes them away when it loses; a void pick changes nothing. The size of the change is (1 + ln(buyers + 1)) × a reliability bonus of up to 1.5. In words: a pick that many people bought or subscribed to weighs more, and so does a result in a sport where the analyst's record before it was already strong, for a win and for a loss.

The points are counted for each sport on its own, and the total is the sum of the sports. Trust score is 100 × (earned + 10) ÷ (earned + lost + 20), where earned is all the points won and lost is all the points taken away. A new analyst starts at the neutral 50 and moves up or down with each result.

Nothing is hidden: every change of the points is listed in the trust score history on the analyst's profile, and a corrected result is added as a new line, not written over the old one.

Because it can come from a few picks. An analyst with 3 wins out of 3 has 100%, and so does one with 300 out of 300, but the first record says very little. Compare the number of settled picks next to the win rate, and look at the trust score, which grows with the history.

Published picks include those still waiting for a result. Settled picks are the ones with a result, and only those make the win rate. So the published total does not tell you the sample behind a win rate.

In Analysts, filter by sport, trust score, win rate and price, and sort the list. Select up to 3 profiles and press Compare to see their records side by side. On a match page you also see every analyst's pick for it with the full settled record.

A review is tied to a purchase: once a pick you bought has been settled as a win or a loss, you can rate the analyst from 1 to 5 and write at least 10 characters. You can leave one review for each purchased pick. A subscription alone does not give the right to review, and neither does a pick that was voided and refunded.
