$70M Henderson Sport & Social to open next month

The $70 million Henderson Sport &Social is set to open next month, but the facility’s weekend tournaments are already sold out through the end of the year.
The 180,000-square-foot two-level complex on Maryland Parkway just south of St. Rose Parkway was built via a public-private partnership, with city of Henderson contributing $60 million to the project and partner KemperSports chipping in $10 million.
The field house includes four full-size indoor basketball courts that can be converted into eight volleyball courts, and two hybrid turf indoor fields that can be used for soccer and flag football. There is also a 30,000-square-foot entertainment space that features 20 bowling lanes, a darts attraction, an arcade and outdoor miniature golf.
The space also features a full-service restaurant and bar, and flexible event spaces that can host between 25 and 75 people.
The second level includes a full gym, a room for group fitness classes, and a day care center. The gym is the only part of the building that requires a monthly membership. Gym memberships start at $55, with Henderson residents receiving a 20 percent discount, according to Kayla Morrow, director of sales and marketing for Henderson Sport &Social. The gym will be open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m.-1 a.m. on weekends.
The second level also features a meeting space and a large balcony for special events and corporate gatherings.
Henderson made the sizeable investment in the space, noting the need for a sporting event space for the community that can also draw tournaments and encourage tourists to stay and spend money in the area.
“One of the motivations for the city of Henderson to partner with KemperSports to build this facility is to drive economic impact,” Jeff Swanlund, general manager of Henderson Sport &Social, said. “They recognized a huge pent-up demand in this area. So, we built the facility, and already we’re excited to announce in 2026, we have sold out all of our weekends for tournaments. Our weekdays, we’re going to run local leagues, and those are still available to register for on our website.”
When is Henderson Sport &Social’s first event?
Henderson Sport &Social will kick off the first event at the facility on Oct. 1, with a major youth basketball tournament, the Border League Wooten Classic 150 Classic, Swanlund said. The event will be aired on ESPN and is expected to draw more than 2,000 high school basketball players and another couple of thousand spectators. Coronado High School’s head basketball coach Jeff Kaufman spearheaded landing the event at the Henderson facility, Swanlund said.
“We’re super excited that our very first event is going to be televised and showcase the new facility,” Swanlund said. “It came through us because the coach of Coronado High School, the basketball coach, is involved with the McDonald’s All-American Games and then the Border League. He recognized the facility being built and toured it early in the process and said, yes, this is where we need to have this event that’s scheduled to be in the Las Vegas and Henderson area every year.”
Coronado is about 2 miles from Henderson Sport &Social, and Kaufman said he is excited to bring a marquee event to the facility to help debut the space.
“Henderson is our hometown, and it is amazing to be able to bring the biggest high school basketball event of the year to this fantastic new facility,” Kaufman said in an email to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “The attention to detail, the size and the great amenities make this much more than a typical gym or community center. This is a new Las Vegas attraction, and we are thrilled to be the first event.”
‘Money-generating endeavor’
Having the project feature both the sports and entertainment aspects makes the potential for the city and KemperSports to see the maximum return on investment with the space, Swanlund said.
“A traditional recreation center funded by the city costs taxpayers money every year,” he said. “But when you add these additional amenities like the fitness gym and then especially the arcade, the bowling, the mini golf and laser tag, the full-service restaurant and bar, the economics begin to make sense. So, it can be a money-generating endeavor for the city because it’s a profit share with Kemper Sports and the city of Henderson.”
It will take about 200 employees to work at the facility during a busy weekend day, with Henderson Sport &Social still hiring around 100 employees ahead of its opening next month.
“So we encourage people to go to our website, www.Hendersonsportandsocial.com to apply,” he said.
The Wooten Classic opening of the facility will be a ticketed event, and the public soft opening is planned to occur on Oct. 5. The grand opening celebration for Henderson Sport &Social is planned for Oct. 16, Swanlund said.
“That’s when we’re just going to do our grand opening celebration, but you can certainly come in on the 5th,” Swanlund said.
