Aaron Rodgers has unleashed a blistering critique of Donald Trump, condemning the United States President's management of the Epstein Files. The new NFL season, marking the final year of Rodgers' career, has begun, with the New England Patriots falling on the road in the 2026 opener, 13-10, to the Seattle Seahawks in a contest that saw Drake Maye throw three fourth-quarter interceptions.
This Sunday, Rodgers will kick off his farewell tour with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who host the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium. The four-time NFL MVP chose to return for the 2026 season following the team's appointment of Mike McCarthy as Mike Tomlin's replacement, bringing Rodgers back together with his former head coach, with whom he spent 13 seasons in Green Bay.
However, as the new season approaches for Rodgers and the Steelers, the 42-year-old has generated headlines prior to Pittsburgh's opener. Earlier this week, Rodgers joined Steelers teammate Cam Heyward, appearing on the latter's podcast, Not Just Football with Cam Heyward. It comes as Trump bizarrely blasted a blockbuster trade and suggested he will "redo" it during an RNC midterm convention.
Rodgers' interview was divided into two segments, the first exploring his return for the 2026 season. But the second installment, released on Thursday, saw Rodgers take aim at multiple subjects, including the current state of the U.S. political system.
During the conversation, the Super Bowl-winning future Hall of Fame quarterback criticized the administrations of Trump, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, characterizing the American government as a "uniparty" — while also stating he holds no trust in political figures.
Aaron Rodgers, holding nothing back, explains why he doesn’t trust anyone in government — right or left — and believes it’s all a sham.
“There is no MAGA movement. The guy you elected hasn’t done any of his campaign promises. ... When Obama was president, it was, ‘There will be… https://t.co/co9U4xt1ve
"You shouldn't trust the government. The government's a uniparty. Like I was saying, they want to paint me - the left didn't like me because I played golf with Obama, and then they think because I'm anti-vax that I'm a right-wing conspiracy theorist Trumper. I'm like, first of all, I don't trust anyone in politics... maybe Ron Paul," Rodgers told Heyward.
He then shifted focus to the Trump and Obama administrations, with Rodgers sharply condemning the former for claiming he would "go after the swamp" and fully release the Epstein Files without retractions. "They don't give a f--- about regular people; they just keep doing the same policies," Rodgers continued.
"Everybody was cheering on ICE when Obama was in office... then Trump gets into office, and they're all racists... Trump gets into office, and he's running on all these policies: he's going to go after the swamp, go into Fort Knox, cut the vaccine stuff, avoid foreign wars, and end the Ukraine stuff. And transparency in the Epstein files!".
He subsequently directed criticism at FBI Director Kash Patel, calling him a moron. "I was actually excited because, you know, the moron Kash Patel goes on Joe Rogan - which I watch a lot because I like Joe and Joe's a friend - and he says, 'Day one, we're going in, and we're opening up the Epstein files.' There's been nothing but the obstruction of transparency with this entire administration.
"Anybody that even liked Trump or thought that things would change — like, this is a pro-Israel-first administration. And when you dig into it, that's the uni-party. How many members of Congress are sponsored by AIPAC? There is no MAGA movement; there is no Make America Great Again movement, because the guy you elected hasn't kept any of his campaign promises."
Rodgers asserted that none of the recent presidents, Trump included, followed through on the major reforms they had campaigned on. The NFL legend expressed amusement at the faith voters placed in the former The Apprentice host when they returned him to the White House in 2024.
"You just bring back in the guy from the TV show [Trump] - 'Okay, this is second administration, now he's really going to change things...' Politics is a total sham," Rodgers said, before adding, "This is a big psy-op. The whole thing. Politics is a crazy psy-op. If voting actually mattered, they wouldn't let you do it. That's the truth of it."
