Aaron Wainwright makes strong Leicester Tigers start ahead of Wales return

Power, heart, determination.
These words perfectly describe Newport-born Aaron Wainwright.
A consistent presence in the Welsh pack.
A player who knows how to get the job done on the international stage, and looks good doing it.
The back rower has entered a new chapter in his career; he made the trip across the bridge to Leicester Tigers.
It hasn't taken long for Wainwright to make an impact at Welford Road.
With Wales’ contest against Japan mere days away, he could have a seismic impact.
A skilful sportsman, Wainwright started as a budding football talent, spending time in the Cardiff City academy.
He then turned to the egg-shaped ball, playing for Whiteheads RFC.
When it was time for university, Wainwright found a home with Cardiff Met.
He built a steadfast foundation that led to his opportunity with the Dragons.
In 2017, he ran out for the Dragons, making his debut for the club.
International selectors didn’t take long to notice.
Everyone who picks up a rugby ball in Wales dreams of representing the nation and Wainwright achieved this dream in June 2018, taking on Argentina.
Of course, he went on to be part of the Wales squad that won Six Nations titles, and he went to multiple World Cups.
In 2024, his talent was truly recognised when he won Player of the Year.
As stated, he has moved to Leicester, where his game has gone to another level.
There was tremendous excitement when it was announced he would be joining the Tigers.
It was sad to see him leave Rodney Parade, but the switch to the Prem gave him a new platform to shine.
Since the start of the season, Leicester has won four out of five.
Over the first block of action, Wainwright has played well.
According to Rugby Pass, he has a try to his name, making 84 metres off 35 carries, and has beaten 10 defenders.
In defence, Wainwright has been a rock, making 74 tackles and winning two turnover.
The former Dragon has been in fine form; he will look to do the same for Wales.
Wales heading into the Autumn
Wales kicked off the Nations Championship with a fantastic win over Fiji, but fell to Argentina and South Africa.
Steve Tandy’s side will have three stern tests heading into the November Tests.
Japan, New Zealand, and Australia will be coming to the Welsh capital.
It will be fascinating to see how the games play out, especially with the 2027 World Cup looming.
Wainwright is an experienced player who has seen a lot in international rugby.
He is electric, driven, and leaves it all out on the pitch, whether it's for club or country.
Wainwright and Wales will look to leave a mark in November.
