AFL star back home for regional junior B final on Friday night to give opposition nightmares

A junior B footballer from Mayo is about to get a serious test of his abilities, as Aussie Rules star and two-time GAA Young Footballer of the Year Oisin Mullin makes his Gaelic football comeback.
The Geelong Cats ace is back on Irish soil during the AFL off-season, and just in time to represent his club in the South Mayo Junior B football final.
The last game Mullin played was in the former AFL Grand final, where his Geelong side lost to Brisbane Lions in front of 100,023 fans.
His native Kilmaine take on Garrymore in the regional county decider on Friday night, October 9 - and the crowd is expected to be a lot less than that!
Mullin left Mayo for the AFL in 2023, having featured twice in losing All-Ireland finals for the Westerners.
The defender won two Connacht SFC titles (2020, 2021), an All-Star award (2020), and back-to-back GAA Young Footballer of the Year awards (2020, 2021) during his inter-county career with Mayo.
Such is the ability the Kilmaine man possesses, Andy Moran was in touch with him about a possible return for this summer's All-Ireland final clash with Kerry.
"The coach just touched base with me from home and had a chat with Scotty (Boss Chris Scott), but the circumstances around where we are in the ladder here and the time of season, it just didn't work out.
"I was just excited watching on from here and see the boys get the result and get it done."
He may be rusty with an O'Neill's ball coming into the Junior B clash, but he has been named to start in midfield by Kilmaine.
Garrymore are also in the Mayo SFC final in the coming weeks, but one of their junior players is about to be put to the stiffest of tests, following professional sports star Mullin around the field.
