Alexandra “Alex” Eala is set to begin her campaign at the Ningbo Open against France’s Diane Parry in the first round of the WTA 500 tournament.

Eala, now ranked world No. 20, will face world No. 34 Parry on Monday night as she looks to bounce back from a string of early exits during the Asian swing.

The Filipina ace opened her campaign in Asia with a second-round loss to Tatiana Prozorova in Singapore, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, after receiving a first-round bye.

Eala skipped the China Open to represent the Philippines at the Asian Games, where she bagged a bronze medal, before returning to the WTA Tour at the Wuhan Open. However, she suffered another first-round exit, falling to China’s Han Shi, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6.

The winner of the Eala-Parry match will advance to face the winner of the first-round clash between Diana Shnaider and Yulia Putintseva.
