Alex Pereira’s trainer Plinio Cruz announces Chase DeMoor fight is cancelled amid injury uncertainty

Alex Pereira’s coach Plinio Cruz has revealed that an injury has scuppered his plans to fight Chase DeMoor later this month.

MMA fans are in for a treat on September 26 as Misfits Boxing brings back legends Henry Cejudo and Tony Ferguson for comeback fights in the ring. They will take on Deen The Great and Kenzo Biyong respectively, and Cruz was supposed to add to the intrigue for UFC fans.

Do you think Chase DeMoor would have any chance with a serious heavyweight champion?

Unfortunately, DeMoor’s activity seems to have been his undoing as he suffered an injury sparring after his WBC US Silver title win last month. He still has yet to be medically cleared, and Cruz seems to think that it won’t happen in time for the fight to happen.

Plinio Cruz took to X on Saturday evening to confirm that he won’t be fighting Chase DeMoor as had been previously leaked. He seems keen to stay on the card against a new opponent, but nothing has been confirmed.

“So I got a call from Mams Taylor saying that Chase DeMoor got his eye ‘injuried’ fighting that 400 pound UPS truck driver on his ‘WBC’ title fight and can’t fight me on the Misfits Boxing September 26th card,” Cruz wrote.

“I trained for months and have put in the work everyday for this, I’m ready to fight it doesn’t matter how many rounds so now let’s see who they match me up against.

“Me and Chase hopefully will fight on a later date, unless he is too afraid and gonna say that he hurt his vagina two weeks before our fight again. And by the way I don’t increase my videos speed to try to look cool like Chase does on his videos at 2x speed, my s— is raw and gangsta as I should be, Chama.”

DeMoor, for his part, shared texts between him and Taylor indicating that he is still awaiting full approval for fighting fitness.

He captioned his post: “I’m not sure where you got your information, but that is incorrect. I’ve not been medically suspended or cleared to fight yet, but clearance doesn’t happen until next week. I also took zero damage in my fight against Kevin Nagle.

“The issue you’re referring to happened during sparring on Tuesday, and they simply wanted to make sure I was good to go. I’ve since been cleared as long as I pass my eye exam scheduled EARLY next week and all signs point to fighting.

“The real reason this is taking so long is because you and your team refuse to agree to a sanctioned 8-round fight. Let’s stick to the facts and stop spreading false information.”
