Alexander Volkanovski wants ‘super fight’ that ends in two retirements after UFC 333 title defense

Alexander Volkanovski is hoping to get a third and final crack at the UFC lightweight title.
The featherweight champion fell short when he fought Islam Makhachev for 155lb gold in 2023 and 2024.
Justin Gaethje became the new lightweight king by stopping Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250 in June.
Alexander Volkanovski will defend his featherweight belt against 20-0 contender Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 on October 24.
The 38-year-old believes a win over Evloev sets up a huge retirement fight with Justin Gaethje, who has been talking about calling it a career for the past few months.
“Imagine that,” Volkanovski said when he was recently asked if he wants one last crack at the lightweight title.
“Imagine that you do that as like a send-off. Let’s just f—ing do it, man.
“Gaethje and Volk, because he’s talking about [retiring]. Does he want to fight still?
“That could be like a super fight. Let’s do a super fight with the lightweight title on the line.
“We can see everyone off with a crazy super fight. That could be f—ing really good.
“I mean, he’s sitting there going, ‘Ah, what’s the point of doing rematches and all that?’
“Alright, let’s do a super fight. Then straight after that, let the divisions sort themselves out.
“The UFC will be happy with that. There you go. Let’s make it happen.”

Alexander Volkanovski vs. Movsar Evloev will be supported by a stacked undercard in Abu Dhabi.
Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili are set to complete their trilogy with the bantamweight title on the line in the night’s co-main event.
