After his groundbreaking outing on the distinguished green grass of Wimbledon, a campaign that saw Oluwaseun become the first Nigerian to compete at Wimbledon in over 30 years and the first Nigerian to compete in the main draw of a Grand Slam in over a decade, he took it even further—going farther than any Nigerian before him by reaching the semifinals of the doubles event.

Now, from the lawns of London to the bright lights of New York, the Shark has arrived in the Big Apple.

Oluwaseun is once again making waves, and this time, he has taken a bite out of the Big Apple.

Seun has qualified for the US Open main draw, overcoming Polish hopeful Tymon Litwic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, before producing a standout performance against the No. 1 seed in qualifying and newly crowned Canadian No. 1, Felix Roussel, defeating him 6-3, 6-4.

Two matches. Two straight-set victories. Another Grand Slam main draw.

With his qualification, Ogunsakin has once again positioned himself among the world’s leading junior tennis players while ensuring Nigerian representation on one of tennis’s biggest stages.

The Shark and his team from Aurum Tennis Academy have pushed the boundaries for Nigerian tennis in 2026. From Roland Garros to Wimbledon to the US Open, he continues to defy expectations, rewrite records and, quite simply, bite off more than any Nigerian tennis player has ever chewed before.

And the Shark isn’t done eating yet.

He now sets his sights on the next milestone: a maiden Grand Slam main-draw victory.
