Anthony Joshua training with former UFC heavyweight champion ahead of Tyson Fury clash

Anthony Joshua has drafted in some unorthodox help for his fight against Tyson Fury.
This past Wednesday, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua faced off for the first time after their historic heavyweight clash was finally announced last week.
Despite expectation that the pair of British heavyweight rivals would trade barbs throughout their press conference, they remained extremely respectful to one another, which surprised combat sports fans.
And now following the press conference earlier this week, one of the biggest talking points surrounding the fight is where both fighters will conduct their training camps.
Will Joshua's huge KO power prevail, or will 'The Gypsy King's' elite footwork and movement give him the edge?
‘The Gypsy King’, Fury, will conduct his training camp in South Florida after having his United States ban removed by Donald Trump, after UFC boss Dana White requested him to do so.
Joshua on the other hand is teaming up with his old trainer Ben Davison after what was a short stint with Oleksandr Usyk’s team. As well as Davison, Joshua was set to team with Fury’s uncle, Peter Fury, however Peter debunked that claim stating that he won’t be in his corner but he is willing to give Joshua advice during the lead up to the fight.
Someone the 36-year-old has been training with recently since arriving back in Dubai is former UFC heavyweight title challenger, Alistair Overeem.
The former kickboxing world champion has been campaigning for a fight against Rico Verhoeven recently, following Verhoeven’s shock performance against the aforementioned Usyk.
Over the past few years with it having become commonplace for MMA fighters to transition into boxing, it has become more regular for boxers to train with MMA fighters. And with Fury known for his movement and footwork in the ring, Joshua is attempting to get used to the unorthodox movement before their clash.
In his post with Joshua, Overeem claimed that he will soon be going into camp for a fight of his own, which he claims will make ‘history’.
As of this point, it is unclear who ‘The Demolition Man’ will fight next and under which ruleset. His last fight came back in 2022 when he took on fellow Kickboxing legend Badr Hari in GLORY. The 46-year-old originally scored the decision win, but it was overturned after he failed a drug test.
