Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: Madison Square Garden Named As Fight Venue Amid Lingering Dispute

The long-delayed heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has taken a fresh turn, with Fury naming Madison Square Garden in New York as the destination for their much-hyped boxing showdown. The announcement, shared on social media, has reignited excitement around the so-called “Battle of Britain”. However, Joshua’s camp has yet to publicly echo the confirmation, leaving the Anthony Joshua Tyson Fury venue question only partially settled as both sides push toward a November date.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Saudi-backed promoters Sela responded to Matchroom’s proposed addendum on staging arrangements, breaking a two-week silence and keeping the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight on track for a potential November 20 date.
Joshua has already received payment for his scheduled tune-up bout, a sign that both camps are pressing ahead. Fury and Joshua reportedly signed contracts earlier this year with Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi entertainment chief overseeing the promotion.

Fury, 38, returned from retirement in January and has since notched a stoppage win in Thailand, while Joshua has remained active with victories of his own heading into the showdown.
The sticking point remains geography. Hearn has indicated that the original contract carried a clause favoring an English venue, and Matchroom has been reluctant to shift Anthony Joshua’s biggest payday to American soil.
Central to that reluctance is taxation, as New York State levies could reportedly strip close to 30 percent from Joshua’s purse compared with fighting at home, a gap Hearn says he wants addressed before signing off. Hearn has said his side still prefers staging the bout in Britain but understands the commercial pull toward New York.
Meanwhile, British fans have voiced frustration on social media, questioning why an all-UK matchup between two of the country’s most decorated heavyweights would be staged abroad rather than at a landmark like Wembley Stadium. Despite the friction, neither camp has walked away from the negotiating table, and with contracts already in place, the Anthony Joshua Tyson Fury venue dispute appears to be settled in near future.
