Arman Tsarukyan and Joshua Van become the latest fighters to receive custom shorts ahead of UFC 331

The UFC are showing their appreciation for Arman Tsarukyan and Joshua Van by giving them their own custom shorts.
This coming Saturday, the premier promotion returns to ‘The Golden State’ for UFC 331, headlined by a flyweight title fight between Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja.
The co-main event sees Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy clash over five rounds in a potential lightweight number one contender fight.
Ever since the UFC removed the option for fighters to wear their own shorts with their own sponsorships on, fans have consistently complained about it.
That somewhat changed, though, when the promotion started to grant the sport’s biggest stars with the opportunity to make their own custom designs to don in the cage.
That began at the milestone UFC 300 event in 2024, when Alex Pereira, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje and Zhang Weili were given their own custom designs.
Since then, some other big stars like Israel Adesanya, Islam Makhachev and Merab Dvalishvili have worn their own designs in the cage.
And now, just a few days out from UFC 331, Tsarukyan and Van have been presented with their own custom shorts.
‘The Fearless’ Van’s shorts celebrate his Burmese heritage, incorporating his nations colors with the national flag, as well as a hornbill motif with outstretched wings. Bible verse Romans 8:31 is also included on the shorts.
Tsarukyan’s also touch on his heritage as Mount Ararat is depicted on the shorts as well as a Russian bear motif. The Armenian flag is also included on the black design, while the ‘Batman’ logo is also seen on the back.
Ahead of his number one contender fight, the 29-year-old officially changed his nickname from ‘Ahalkalakets’ to ‘Batman’.
“Tsarukyan’s all black design is a serious upgrade, that colorway suits him perfectly for fight week,” one fan reacted.
“Both flyweights have the coolest custom shorts in my opinion. Arman’s are disgusting,” another fan commented.
“Arman is really going full on the Batman gimmick,” a third fan said.
“It’s been so long since we had custom shorts, and this is the best they can do? I quite like them both to be fair but they’re really nothing special,” a fourth fan commented.
