Asian Games 2026 Day 3 Live: Smriti Mandhana out for 79 in gold medal match, men’s kabaddi team hammer South Korea

Asian Games 2026, Day 3 Highlights: Hello and welcome to the highlights of the third day of the 20th Asian Games edition at Aichi and Nagoya. India finally opened its gold medal account with the women’s cricket team beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s side posted 216/3 before bowling Sri Lanka out for just 69. Smriti Mandhana scored 79, while Richa Ghosh finished unbeaten on 49 off 22 balls. The win also gave India its seventh medal of the Games.

In shooting, Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the 10m air rifle mixed team event while the women’s Table Tennis team crashed out of the team’s event from the quarter-finals.

In Badminton’s men’s team event, India defeated Japan by 3-0 and confirmed at least bronze by reaching the semi-finals. However, the women’s team failed suffered a setback as Japan defeated India 3-1 in the women’s team quarterfinal.

PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda and Tanvi Sharma lost their singles matches, ending India’s campaign in the event. In Wushu, Roshibina Devi stormed into the women’s 60kg semifinals with a win over Macau China’s Man Sin Chu. Scroll down below for more updates and highlights.
