Beaverton Sports Club to host grand opening of new facility

A new sports facility is set to open in Beaverton, and it’s planning celebrations to go with it this week.
Beaverton Sports Club will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Oct. 23, followed by a free kids event set for Saturday, Oct. 24.
Events kick off Friday when the club, located at 5803 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, hosts a 9:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting led by the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce representatives and Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty.
The event will be followed by a tour of the club’s five tennis courts. The Beaverton Sports Club offers classes for all ages and a yearly membership that grants access to book court time.
On Saturday, Beaverton Sports Club will host a kids community event from 1:30-3:30 p.m., catering to youth ages 5 through 17.
Events include on-court tennis activities, games and opportunities for kids to get active or try something new.
One of the day’s highlights will be the opportunity to return balls hit by former University of Oregon tennis coach Pete Yellico.
Both representatives from the Girl Scouts and Canvas & Code, a Beaverton-based science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics art studio, will host informational tables and share opportunities for local families.
“We’re excited to open our doors and welcome the Beaverton community to experience everything Beaverton Sports Club has to offer,” said Lisa Moholt, director of athlete services and member experience. “Our goal is to create a place where people of all ages can connect through sports, discover new interests, and feel part of a community. We’re especially looking forward to giving local kids the opportunity to get on the court, have fun, and experience the excitement of tennis.”
The facility is geared toward athletes and families of all ages and skill levels.
