Bills vs. Texans prediction: Odds, expert picks, QB matchup, injury update, betting trends, stats

Sunday in Houston AFC contenders collide as Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills take on the C.J. Stroud Houston Texans. It’s a matchup between one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks and one of the league’s top defenses.
In 2026, the Bills once again finished among the AFC’s elite teams with a record of 12-5, but it was not enough to save Sean McDermott. Buffalo has handed the keys to the franchise to former offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Why Brady? Josh Allen likes him, Buffalo led the NFL in rushing yards, and the Bills are one of the most efficient red-zone teams in football. Houston reached the playoffs for a third consecutive season last year after finishing the regular season 10-7. Despite injuries and major offensive line issues throughout the year, C.J. Stroud was good enough and the Texans’ defense was elite ranking No. 1 in the entire NFL allowing just 277.2 yards per game.
We alluded to the game’s key matchup earlier. It is Josh Allen vs. the Texans’ defense. The MVP has struggled against Houston. He is 1-4 all-time against DeMeco Ryans and the Texans including 0-4 in Houston. In those five career games, Allen has thrown for 980 yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions, and recorded a passer rating of 72.7. Often forced out of the pocket, Allen has rushed for 201yds on 37 carries. The Bills’ signal-caller has also been sacked 17 times in those contests.
These teams last met on November 20, 2025 with Houston winning at home, 23-19. In that game, Josh Allen was sacked eight times and forced two interceptions of the All-Pro.
Expect a physical, playoff-style game that comes down to a handful of possessions in the fourth quarter. Points will be at a premium.
Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.
