Brad Keselowski Threatens Retaliation Against Carson Hocevar Following Darlington Contact: “His Day is Coming”

Brad Keselowski was left fuming after Carson Hocevar spun him out in the Chase opener at Darlington Raceway. The team owner vowed retaliation and warned Hocevar to ‘watch out’.

On lap 107 of Sunday’s Cook Out Southern 500, Hocevar drove up the track and tagged Keselowski’s left rear quarter panel. As the No.6 driver slid, Hocevar got into him again and sent the veteran spinning.

In a post-race interview with Yellow Line Media, Keselowski shared a blunt assessment of the incident, saying,

When asked if there was any history behind the incident, the former champion replied,

“No, but there will be. His day is coming, and it’s coming hard. Watch out, Carson.”

Carson Hocevar ultimately finished one spot shy of the top-10, while Brad Keselowski placed 23rd. Hocevar was informed about Keselowski’s remarks, but the young driver remained nonchalant.

“I’ll tighten my belts,” he said via aforementioned source.

Hocevar continues to build on his wreck-prone, aggressive driving. Multiple drivers from the grid have expressed their frustration with his antics and have even left him hanging at drafting tracks.

Despite a lack of support, Hocevar clinched his maiden Cup Series win at Talladega, a track synonymous with pack racing.

Carson Hocevar recently spun out on a wet pace lap at New Hampshire, but Kyle Larson called it an intentional move to garner attention. Hocevar does create viral-worthy moments, like his iconic Talladega celebration, in which he drove the car while sitting on the windowsill.

The reputation has now extended to his on-track moments, and Hocevar addressed the narrative after Sunday’s race.

“I do everything for TV and entertainment purposes based off everybody else. So I don’t know. Whatever makes us good TV. I just do it for the clicks,” he said via NASCAR’s official website.

On the other hand, team owner Justin Marks praised Carson Hocevar for connecting with fans and drawing mainstream media attention.

“We need big stars you know it’s like what Carson’s doing right now like being this big polarizing personality is just so good for the sport in my opinion. I mean it. I think it’s not a lot different than what I think about track house this is primarily a storytelling exercise and if we tell great stories that connect with the fans,” Marks said in a podcast episode of Speed with Kevin Harvick

“If we can have these drivers attach themselves to legions of fans and they tune in for that driver’s journey, I think it’s the biggest growth opportunity for the sport,” he added.

Carson Hocevar has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows this season. At one point, the No.77 driver was fifth in the standings, but he then recorded a string of backmarker finishes and tumbled down to 12th.

He now heads to Gateway for the Enjoy Illinois 300, scheduled for Sunday, September 13th at 5 PM ET.
