Caitlin Clark tops Team USA in this category as USA beat France for fifth straight World Cup gold

After a not-so-impressive outing in the semi-final against Spain, Caitlin Clark had her moment in the FIBA Women’s World Cup final as Team USA beat France to secure their fifth consecutive gold medal.
Team USA dominated the second half to make up for a 14-point deficit, as Breanna Stewart led the team to a 97-79 victory over France to win their 12th overall World Cup gold.
Stewart finished the game with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Jackie Young also contributed 15 points, five assists and five rebounds, becoming the first player to do so in a World Cup final. Speaking of records, Clark also registered a feat of her own.
The Fever star, who had a mixed tournament, was brought in late in the first half of the final and subsequently scored a three-pointer as the clock wound down, helping Team USA trail by just two points at halftime.
The 24-year-old spent 13 minutes on the court and finished the game 4-of-5 from the floor, scoring 12 points and three assists.
In addition to that impressive performance, Clark concluded the World Cup as Team USA’s leader in assists with 32 and overall plus/minus, giving her team a valuable contribution during her time on the court.
Overall, Clark scored 47 points across six games for her team during the World Cup. This included 14 points against China, nine against the Czech Republic, 10 in the quarter-final against Hungary, one in the semi-final against Spain and 12 in the final.
Her 32 assists included 11 against China, which was also the American record for most assists in a World Cup debut, one against Italy, seven against the Czech Republic, nine against Hungary, one in the semi-final and three against France in the gold medal game.
