Forward Logan Shaw of Glace Bay signed a one-year American Hockey League contract extension with the Toronto Marlies, beginning in the 2027-28 season. Financial terms of the deal were not released publicly.

Shaw, 33, signed a two-year contract extension with the Toronto-based team in January 2025. The contract was to come to expire at the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

Shaw is the Marlies franchise leader in points (223) and assists (137), which he accomplished during the 2025-26 season. He recorded his fourth career 50-plus point season, leading the Marlies in points (54) and assists (31) during the regular season.

Last season, Shaw posted nine goals and 17 points in 24 playoff games and had three game-winning goals, while leading the Marlies to the franchise’s second Calder Cup championship last June.

Over four seasons in Toronto, Shaw, the captain of the club, has been selected for the AHL All-Star Game twice and was the first Marlies player to be the recipient of the David Andrews Award of Excellence and the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award.

Shaw, who won his first Calder Cup title with the Marlies, celebrated the championship victory with the Cape Breton community in July, bringing the trophy to Glace Bay.

In 589 career AHL games, Shaw has posted 169 goals and 215 assists. He was originally selected by the Florida Panthers in the third-round, No. 76 overall, at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Last month, Shaw attended the Toronto Maple Leafs main training camp. He was later reassigned to the Marlies.

Shaw and the Marlies will open the 2026-27 regular season on Friday when they travel to New York to play the Rochester Americans. Puck drop is set for 8:05 p.m., Atlantic time. The team will have their home opener on Saturday when they host the Hamilton Hammers at 5 p.m., Atlantic time.
