Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Diya Ramesh have been awarded qualifying wildcards for the WTA 250 Chennai Open 2026, organisers announced on Thursday.
Shrivalli, currently ranked World No. 640, returns to competition after recovering from a back injury. She reached the second round of the main draw at last year’s edition.
Diya, an emerging player from Tamil Nadu, has gained valuable competitive experience over the past year and will have an opportunity to test herself against international opponents.
The qualifying draw also features Czech Republic’s Linda Fruhvirtova, who won the Chennai Open title in 2022, and Australia’s Storm Hunter, a doubles finalist at the previous edition.
France’s Elsa Jacquemot, who was ranked as high as World No. 53 a few months ago, and Russia’s Erika Andreeva, a former World No. 65, are among the other notable players competing in qualifying.
The tournament will feature players from 26 countries.
The qualifying matches will begin at 3pm on Saturday, October 31, and continue from 4pm on Sunday, November 1.
The other players listed are Japan’s Kyoka Okamura and Mei Yamaguchi, Mariia Tkacheva, Darya Khamutsianskaya, Slovakia’s Viktoria Morvayova, Poland’s Weronika Falkowska, and Kazakhstan’s Zhibek Kulambayeva.
