Conor McGregor makes promise for his ‘final fight’ while vowing to outdo Canelo Alvarez in every way

The return of boxing’s biggest star seems to have boosted Conor McGregor’s motivation.
MMA’s leading name appeared on social media in the aftermath of Canelo Alvarez’s return to the ring on Saturday night.
Over a year after his upset loss to Terence Crawford in Las Vegas, Alvarez defeated Christian Mbilli via unanimous decision in Riyadh to win the WBC super middleweight title again.
The bout did not have as much hype or likely viewership as September 2025’s super-fight with ‘Bud’, and McGregor doesn’t think he’ll have any issue surpassing it when he gets back inside the Octagon.
After reclaiming WBC gold at super-middleweight, who should Canelo Alvarez fight – if anyone?
McGregor’s UFC 329 comeback ended in disaster, as he returned from a leg break five years earlier right into another devastating injury.
The former lightweight and featherweight champion opened up his rematch against Max Holloway with an immediate flying kick, resulting in a torn ACL and another surgery.
International Fight Week marked the penultimate fight on McGregor’s current UFC contract, and his latest remarks suggest he will not be re-signing.
In a post on X after Alvarez’s win on Saturday, McGregor insisted he is a superior draw to the Mexican and vowed to break more records by selling his “final” fight the best he can.
“How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate?” McGregor asked in a post on X.
“Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined.
“I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them numbers in that last bulls— that I’ve to sit with for another few months before I return.
“I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records.”
Soon after UFC 329, McGregor declared International Fight Week 2027 as the date for his “last dance” inside the Octagon.
It remains to be seen who ‘The Notorious’ could face for his final fight, but he has expressed interest in completing his trilogy with Holloway after how the Hawaiian leveled the score in their series earlier this year.
