Conor McGregor rules out re-signing with UFC as he looks forward to being ‘free’: ‘One more to go’

Conor McGregor is already looking forward to his post-UFC career.
McGregor is focused on recovering from the knee injury that cut his return to the Octagon in July incredibly short.
‘The Notorious’ still seems to believe that he has unfinished business in the promotion, with McGregor saying Max Holloway has to be his next opponent.
However, with only one fight left on his current contract, it now appears that there is another factor that is motivating the Irishman to return.
'Notorious' suffered a serious knee injury moments into his comeback fight against Max Holloway.
In May, the UFC was able to drop the bombshell of Conor McGregor’s return following a lot of talk about the promotion’s current star power.
Things didn’t go to plan for ‘The Notorious’ in the slightest and that raised a lot of questions regarding his future.
McGregor has already referred to his ‘last dance’ taking place next year once he has recovered from the injury he suffered in July.
In a clip taken from what appears to be an Instagram live, the biggest star in the history of the sport suggested that regardless of how the final fight on his contract goes, he won’t be re-signing with the UFC.
BKFC’s event on Friday night in Florida got McGregor fired up, leading to him saying that he’s now just one more fight away from being able to compete in the promotion he partly owns.
“Bare-knuckle Fighting Championship is unstoppable at the moment. What a few months we’ve had and God bless it. God bless true fighting. I can’t wait to do it. One more to go. One more to go and the mac daddy is free.”
The likes of Ali Abdelaziz theorized that McGregor fought injured earlier this year simply to get him closer to being out of his contract.
🚨 Conor McGregor says he can’t wait until he is “free” from his UFC contract so he can fight in bare knuckle boxing 👀
“I can’t wait to do [bare knuckle]. One more [fight] to go and the Mac Daddy is free.”
Eddie Alvarez believes that Conor McGregor’s career looked “over” when his return ended in incredibly disappointing fashion.
Having earned the nickname of ‘The Underground King’, Alvarez has fought for various different promotions.
He recently spoke with MMA Junkie about how the relationship between fighter and promotion tends to change when you say you’re planning to leave.
“I think that’s the idea (to fight out his contract),” Alvarez said. “But, No. 1, he’s UFC’s biggest bargaining chip. Do they really just go down without a fight and just give him a fight and say, ‘Go.’ I’ve been there with Bellator. I got sued before they let me leave. Are they going to agree upon a matchup because at this point if you say you want to leave the company, you are public enemy No. 1.”
