Deloraine's Georgie Bowman produced five consecutive soccer kicks, the first in the centre of a rain-affected Windsor Park, outrunning several South Launceston opponents right up to the mouth of goal.
A final toe poke got the ball across the line despite the lunging efforts of South's Samantha Davies, and Deloraine emerged 3.3 (21) to 3.2 (20) victors just 11 minutes later.
Only one thing was going through Bowman's head.
"Just run, keep running, keep pushing," she said.
"It feels bloody amazing, we've been working our asses off week in, week out for the last eight weeks and we really needed it."

Coach Brad Powe explained the significance of the past eight weeks.
"We were pretty honest with each other, we weren't bringing the same training standards, so we decided to lock in from about then," he said.
"We've worked really hard on the training track and built again.
"I felt like coming into finals last year we were flat, but this year we're full of enthusiasm."
South Launceston got off to the perfect start as Lucy Sulzberger marked and goaled from directly in front just four minutes into the contest.
However, that would prove to be the Bulldogs' solitary major until early in the final term as Deloraine replied just minutes later through Lauren Stevenson before scoring slowed in troubling conditions.
Deloraine took a three-point lead into quarter-time and maintained the same buffer through a scoreless second term which featured plenty of contested football.
It was going to take a special player to break the drought, and who else but the competition's leading goalkicker in Danielle Dunstone, who whacked boot to ball from close range and found the big sticks.
That goal gave Deloraine an eight-point three-quarter-time lead, but South Launceston didn't go away as Hallianna Madden marked and goaled to keep the Bulldogs in the contest.
Bowman's magical goal, which will be replayed for years to come, then followed, soccering on both feet with no players in front of her to kick to.
Sulzberger then replied with her second major of the day, showing her spectacular goal-craft to make the margin just one point, but time ran out for South Launceston.
