Damian Knyba beats Andy Ruiz Jr. by UD at Matchroom Boxing on The Fight

Damian Knyba beat Andy Ruiz Jr. by unanimous decision at Matchroom Boxing on The Fight, handing the former unified heavyweight champion his third career defeat. The Polish heavyweight controlled the distance over the scheduled rounds, frustrating Ruiz's attempts to press forward and work inside. Knyba moves to 19-1 whilst Ruiz falls to 38-3-1.

All three judges sided with Knyba after the final bell, rewarding his disciplined use of the jab and lateral movement throughout the contest. Ruiz enjoyed pockets of success when he closed the gap, but could not sustain enough pressure to trouble the taller man. The decision leaves no doubt about the gulf in form between the two heavyweights on the night.

Knyba now stands at 19-1 and will look to secure a bigger name in his next outing as he climbs the heavyweight rankings. Ruiz, who slips to 38-3-1, faces questions about his conditioning and ability to compete at elite level after back-to-back setbacks in recent campaigns. Both men will need clearer paths forward to stay relevant in a crowded division.
