Dana White provides health update on Raoni Barcelos after terrifying KO loss at UFC Vegas 121

The UFC boss has provided an update on the latest health of Raoni Barcelos who suffered a scary KO loss at UFC Vegas 121.
This past Saturday, the premier MMA promotion returned to the Meta Apex for UFC Vegas 121, which was headlined by a bantamweight clash between Raul Rosas Jr and Raoni Barcelos.
After an incredible four rounds of action, the pair of bantamweights came out for round five wearing their exhaustion, in what was a Fight of the Year contender.
Rosas Jr then scored a terrifying KO, as the Brazilian contender seemingly went unconscious without being hit, and he was subsequently stretchered out of the Octagon while still unconscious.
Raoni Barcelos went out cold without taking a punch in the fifth round of his fight with Raul Rosas Jr.
UFC boss Dana White wasn’t in attendance for UFC Vegas 121 as he was in London for a Zuffa Boxing event instead. But following Dana White’s Contender Series this past Tuesday, White was asked for an update on the health of the 39-year-old.
“Yeah, thank God he’s doing well, he’s doing well. He’s up walking around, talking. I mean, it goes right in line with everything that I always talk about and what we do, all the pre-fight medicals were triple checked, everything was good, there were six doctors here that night, three ambulances, he was taken straight to the trauma center not to Valley, everything was done the right way and the outcome was good,” White said.
In his own update following his terrifying KO, Barcelos claimed he will fight again despite calls for him to retire from the sport considering he is 39 years old and coming off the back of a scary loss.
Despite that, White is not willing to disclose whether he will allow the Brazilian to fight in the UFC again. “I’m not even thinking about that, who gives a s— as long as the kid is okay,” White said.
The UFC Vegas 121 scorecards showed that Barcelos was winning the fight going into the fifth round, and only needed to see out the final five minutes to score his sixth win in a row.
At this point, though, it remains to be seen whether the veteran will fight again in the premier promotion, or if he will be blocked from doing so.
Fortunately, though, Barcelos has now been discharged from hospital three days removed from the scary ending to his fight.
