Darren Till provides update on ‘dream’ future clash with Mike Perry: ‘I could probably retire after that’

Darren Till thinks a fight against Mike Perry could finally align in 2027.
This coming Saturday, Till and Yoel Romero will headline BKFC 94, years after both competing in the same UFC middleweight division.
The 190lb clash is being touted as the biggest fight BKFC has ever held, with them expected to sell 16,000 tickets at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Despite the blockbuster main event, though, BKFC president Dave Feldman revealed earlier this week that their original plan was for Darren Till to headline the event against Mike Perry.
‘The Gorilla’ signed a three-fight deal with the soaring promotion earlier this year, making his debut against reality TV star, Aaron Chalmers.
Till overcame adversity in his BKFC debut after suffering a knockdown in round one, before unleashing a huge left hand in round two to score the KO.
Ahead of his clash against ‘The Soldier of God’, the Englishman opened up about why a fight against ‘Platinum’ Perry continues to evade him, despite it being a fight fans have been calling for for many years now.
“I think once I entered into Bare-Knuckle, that’s when Mike Perry started to go off and do his own thing in MVP, when he was fighting Nate Diaz,” Till told Bloody Elbow in an exclusive interview.
“Then it was a bit like, okay, he’s under one fight contract with them, and obviously when I fought my first fight in Bare-Knuckle then he got rescheduled to fight Dillon Danis which I knew he wouldn’t end up fighting Dillon, I knew that fight wouldn’t happen for whatever reason,” Till continued.
Perry was scheduled to fight the controversial grappler but Danis withdrew from their fight due to an injury, which led to Perry fighting Brandon Jenkins, losing a shock first round finish.
Despite that, Till is still interested in their fight finally happening and he believes that if it is going to come to fruition, it’ll be in 2027.
“Unless he comes back (to BKFC), which I don’t know what he’s planning because he has made a lot of money as well he doesn’t really need to come back, I wish he’d come back because we could make the fight that everyone’s always wanted. I think next year, if it does align I think next year will be the time to align that fight, I truly believe that.”
Something that is still on the 33-year-old’s bucket list for his fight career is to compete at Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club.
And although that seemed like a pipe dream, it was made potentially easier earlier this year when BKFC hosted an event at Fenway Park. Fenway Sports Group owns both the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool FC, potentially making it easier for an Anfield event in the future.
With that now holding real potential, Till has revealed that he would seriously consider retiring from combat sports if he was able to fight at Anfield to finish his career.
“It’d be amazing, I think the dream opponent for (a potential fight at Anfield) would be Mike Perry. If they could make that happen I’d be over the moon… I think me and Mike Perry at Anfield would be unbelievable… I could probably retire after that then, I’d probably just say I’m done now.
“Massive dream for me that, that’d be the cherry on the cake for my whole career, I’d probably just leave it at that then and just say I done it and achieved it and be remembered in the history books. I’d contemplate (retirement) because at that point I’d know I’ve made enough money… I’d love to leave on the highest high.”
