Deuce McBride reaffirms his desire to sign another contract with the Knicks

The 2026 NBA champion wants to stay with the Knicks, but he might not be with the team long-term.
Deuce McBride reaffirms his desire to sign another contract with the Knicks

Miles "Deuce" McBride is in the final year of his contract in the 2026-27 NBA season. Given his situation, he could be traded midway through the season if the New York Knicks have no plans to re-sign him to a new contract.

That would be a sad ending to his Knicks tenure, especially since he has had a successful five years with the team. After Mitchell Robinson's departure, McBride is now the longest-tenured player on the Knicks.

Over the past few seasons, McBride has been one of the most useful role players off the Knicks' bench. He had the best year of his career during the 2025-26 season, as he averaged 12 points per game.

Of course, he only got to play 41 games in the regular season, but he was a crucial cog in the postseason. He might not have had some big numbers, but he did play a good number of minutes to stand in when Brunson had to rest.

Since McBride knows his role, it would be logical to re-sign him rather than spending to get a player who has to take some time to adjust. McBride is disappointed that he has not extended his contract because he would love to be with the Knicks for the foreseeable future.

"I love being in New York. Obviously, I've been here my whole career. I'm a little disappointed. Of course, you want to obviously come to the right terms, and I want to be in New York... It’s a little hard at times, but I’m gonna be a professional. I want to go out and do my job," McBride said to the New York Daily News' Kristian Winfield.

Most Knicks fans would agree that they would love to bring McBride back. It is definitely an interesting situation because he wants to stay, but there is a big likelihood that they won't get to re-sign him.
