Dricus du Plessis welcomes ‘awesome super fight’ with UFC 332 star who knocked him out

Dricus du Plessis is open to completing his trilogy of fights with Roberto Soldic.

The former UFC middleweight champion won by TKO when they first fought in 2018.

11 months later, Dricus du Plessis got knocked out when he rematched Roberto Soldic for the KSW welterweight title.

Reports suggest the UFC are offering him $400k show and $400k win, while he wants more.

Dricus du Plessis bounced back with 11 consecutive wins to establish himself as one of the best fighters on the planet.

Roberto Soldic went on to win a middleweight belt in KSW before signing with ONE Championship.

Between 2022 and 2025, the Croatian had just three fights, which ended in one win, one loss, and one no contest due to a low blow.

Soldic ended a 20-month spell on the sidelines when he made his promotional debut at UFC 332.

The 31-year-old survived two early knockdowns to beat Khaos Williams by decision on Saturday night.

A few days later, Du Plessis was asked about his old rival during an interview with Fight Forecast.

It’s great,” he said about Soldic joining the UFC.

“Soldic, for a long time, has been in many people’s minds the best fighter outside of the UFC.

“Yeah, he’s at welterweight. It’s 1-1. Being the best outside of the UFC is not being the best in the UFC.

We have seen that many times. It’s on a different level. You know, a super fight [could happen] down the line. If he gets a couple of wins and says, ‘Okay, let’s do a middleweight fight’.

“I think that would be amazing. I think that fight would be awesome.”

Dricus du Plessis lost his UFC middleweight title when he fought Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 in August 2025.

‘StillKnocks’ returned to the win column by battering former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman over five rounds in July.

Three months later, Du Plessis is still waiting to find out who will be his next opponent.

“Looking at what’s next. I mean, you know, time waits for no one,” the South African added.

“Right now, obviously, they’re going to do Strickland and Imavov. I think the middleweight division is in a bit of a weird situation. Who gets the next title shot? I’m 100 percent ready for that. I had an injury. I was out for a while, but I’ve told them I’ll be ready to fight early next year.

“It’s interesting because I don’t know what they’re going to do. Who are they going to make me fight?

“They’re not going to make me fight backwards. And right now we have Strickland, Imavov, Khamzat, and myself. So it’s going to be interesting. I think the Strickland-Imavov fight is going to play a big role in what’s going to happen for me next.”
