Ducks' Cutter Gauthier pulls off historic feat with goal-scoring barrage vs. Canucks

Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier remained red hot, scoring his second straight hat trick as part of Anaheim's win over the Canucks.

While the Anaheim Ducks have gotten off to an inconsistent start to the 2026-27 season just months after advancing to the Western Conference Semifinal in the spring, they've rattled off two straight wins and, on Tuesday night, exacted some revenge against a divisional opponent.

The Ducks, who were beaten 6-5 in OT by the Vancouver Canucks last week after initially leading 5-2, improved to 7-7-1 with a 5-4 win over Vancouver at Rogers Arena. Helping to make it possible was forward Cutter Gauthier, who remained red-hot by scoring his second consecutive hat trick.

And in doing so, Gauthier became the first player in Ducks team history to net hat tricks in consecutive games.

While the Ducks haven't been around nearly as long as some other teams in the NHL, they've still boasted multiple high-profile names throughout their lineup over the years, including Paul Kariya, Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf, and Corey Perry, making Gauthier's accomplishment no small feat.

With the second straight hat trick effort, Gauthier is now up to 10 goals with five assists so far in 2026-27.

Before the season, the Ducks re-signed Gauthier to a six-year, $81 million contract extension.

“We are pleased to get Cutter signed to a long-term deal and have him in camp on time,” Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek said via NHL.com. “He’s a major part of our young core, a pure goal-scoring talent that will continue progressing into an elite NHL player.”
“This is a very exciting day for my family and me,” Gauthier said. “I’m so pleased to be able to sign long-term with the Ducks and be part of what I believe is a great future.”

So far in his NHL career, Gauthier has scored 71 goals with 58 assists in 173 games played.
