The Friedkin Group (TFG) is considering selling Everton Football Club less than two years after completing its takeover of the Premier League club.
The American investment group, led by billionaire Dan Friedkin, completed its acquisition of Everton in December 2024, purchasing Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake through Roundhouse Capital and ending a prolonged period of ownership uncertainty and financial difficulties at the Merseyside club.
In a statement on Friday, TFG said it would consider interest only from parties it believes can provide the right stewardship and build on the progress made since the takeover.

“When TFG became custodians of Everton, the club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch,” the owners said.
“The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment, and support needed to secure the club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.
“With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton.” TFG added that it would continue supporting the club throughout the process, with its focus on improving performances on the pitch and making a positive contribution to the communities Everton serves.
The group has appointed investment bank Moelis & Company to advise on the process. TFG and Everton said they would not comment further while the process was underway.
TFG’s takeover ended a turbulent search for investors under Moshiri, following financial difficulties and the collapse of discussions with prospective buyers, including 777 Partners, MSP Sports Capital, and the KAM Group.
Since taking control, TFG has overseen Everton’s move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium and worked to improve the club’s financial position.
However, Everton’s transfer activity has remained a talking point, with the club generating significant income through player sales while making only limited additions to the squad before the transfer deadline.
A potential sale would mark a significant development in TFG’s ownership of Everton, particularly after its efforts to stabilise the club’s finances and complete the long-awaited stadium project.
TFG also owns Italian club AS Roma and French side AS Cannes. The group is additionally involved in plans to launch a National Hockey League (NHL) franchise in Houston through a deal reportedly valued at around £2.65 billion.
The owners have not disclosed a potential asking price for Everton or identified prospective buyers. Any change in ownership would depend on finding a suitable party capable of meeting TFG’s expectations for the club’s future.
