There is always something happening at Everton Football Club.

Slow news days at Hill Dickinson Stadium are still considerably more hectic than at plenty of other clubs across English football.

There is so much going on at Everton right now, both pertaining to matters on and off the pitch.

David Moyes' side will be fully focused on Carabao Cup action on Thursday night, as they take on Newcastle.

The Toffees are winless in their last three, so a victory by any means and wherever it comes from would be most welcome right now.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) are looking to sell Everton, but have so far not made any public process with that endeavour.

Should this situation continue to drag on, the way in which this may be perceived in the general business world could be bad news for TFG.

Speaking on the High Performance Business podcast, The Esk, real name Paul Quinn, explained what the Americans are risking by taking this course of action.

"They can't get away with this scot-free," he said. "They run a massively successful large business in the US. Their reputation is one of being good, prudent, careful owners of businesses.

"And there is the chance that, given that the Premier League is so high-profile, given that their acquisition of Everton was high-profile, if they screw this up, they screw up at least part of their own business reputation.

"They will know that they have to do something about the situation that they find themselves in, in order to protect their reputation elsewhere."

Unless you've been living under a rock since Monday night, you'll know that Harry Kane is the new recipient of the Ballon d'Or trophy.

It's a huge achievement for English football in general too, as the Bayern Munich striker is the first Englishman to win it since Michael Owen in 2001.

Aside from the pure talent, this is living proof that if you want something so bad then you’ll do anything and everything to achieve it. And won’t stop until it’s done. Inspirational. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

At the end of last season, Seamus Coleman called time on his legendary 17-year-long Everton career.

He's yet to sign with a new team, and speaking to the Overlap Fan Debate via BBC Sport, the 38-year-old is moving closer to retirement.

"I have been keeping fit but it is edging towards that way (retirement), and happily as well," he said.

"Regarding what's next, I've enjoyed family time, I'm doing this now and I seem to enjoy it, so we will see how it goes. It's just an open book at the minute."

As mentioned, Everton welcome Newcastle to Merseyside on Thursday night in the Carabao Cup.

It's set to be a big night for Toffees fan group The 1878s, who are coming out of retirement for this fixture.

They haven't done an in-stadium tifo display since the Merseyside derby against Liverpool in April this year, and announced in September that they were standing down.

But they are coming back for Newcastle, and they're calling on Evertonians going to the game to help them with their planned display.

Let's hope it guides Everton to an important win and ever closer to some much-needed silverware.
