Footage of Marvin Harrison Jr during his first practice for the Houston Texans has gone viral on social media and sparked a big reaction from NFL fans.
Big things were expected of the wide receiver when he was drafted with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Many viewed the Ohio State graduate as a generational prospect who was destined to have great success in the league.
Harrison had a promising opening season in the NFL, recording 885 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He has been unable to build on that, though.
His struggles got so extreme that, after catching the ball just five times in the first four matches of the 2026 season, the Cardinals felt it was time to cut ties and trade Harrison to the Texans.
The Texans gave up 2027 second-round and seventh-round picks in exchange for Harrison and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Harrison will make his Texans debut on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium.
It is hoped that Harrison will revive his career with the Texans. CJ Stroud was his quarterback at Ohio State, and he could help bring the best out of him.
The 24-year-old travelled to England to meet his teammates and train with them ahead of this weekend's match in London.
Footage from Harrison's first practice with his new team has now emerged on social media. It has sparked a big reaction, with many believing he looks much sharper than he did compared to the end of his time with the Cardinals.
'He just wanted out of AZ he already looks better,' one fan commented, while a second said: 'Burst off the line looks fantastic. Hopefully the lack of effort on tape was just due to circumstance after all.'
A third wrote: 'Bro put in more effort there than with the entire time with the Cardinals.'
A fourth said: 'I’m not kidding, he looks like a completely different player. Look at the breaks. He’s putting his feet into the ground. He literally sabotaged his way off the team.'
While a fifth stated: 'That man gotta pep in his step… he’s happy to be w/ a team that appreciates him instead of just tolerating him. He will do good & he will live up to his father's name.'
Harrison couldn't contain his excitement when speaking to the media after the trade. He said, per NFL.com: "Just excited, man. Always watched the Texans from afar, watching C.J., so it's pretty surreal to be playing with him now again and, like I said, just help him out the best I can."
When asked how much his familiarity with Stroud might help him, Harrison responded: "I think really just kind of, I guess, more focused on the C.J. part, just knowing body language and knowing what he's thinking about certain things.
"We kind of just see the defense the same way. We haven't had live action yet, but football's just football at the end of the day, for the most part. I think just seeing things the same way, he can kind of read my body language, I think that can definitely help."
The Texans are currently 1-4 for the season. They will be hoping Harrison can help them overcome a poor start and lead them to the playoffs.
