Arvid Lindblad has passed his car theory test on his second attempt after missing out by a single point the first time around earlier this year. The Racing Bulls driver earned his test certificate one day after overcoming a crash in Friday practice to finish ninth at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Lindblad, 19, was granted a super license to compete in Formula One last summer after the International Automobile Federation (FIA) approved a requested exemption two months before his 18th birthday. However, no such exception has been made by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) for him this year.

Not that Lindblad needed one for his theory test on Monday in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, comfortably passing both parts. He scored 46 out of 50 on the multiple-choice, with 43 being the pass mark; the four questions he got wrong concerned motorway rules, road and traffic signs, safety, and your vehicle and vulnerable road users.
Then, on hazard perception, Lindblad scored 52 out of 75, with only 52 points needed to pass. He scored zero points on just one clip and earned multiple points on all the others, leading him to describe the test as a whole as an "easy dub".
Next up for the teenager is his practical test, which he must pass within two years; otherwise, he will have to retake the theory test. However, he acknowledged earlier this year that he has not even had any lessons.
In an interview with Up to Speed ahead of the British Grand Prix, Lindblad said: "I haven't actually had a lesson yet. I did my theory a couple of months ago. It was quite bad, yeah, I was quite disappointed.

"Especially because I'd started revising only at like 8pm the day before. So, I did like three or four hours of revision, which I thought was enough, because I spoke to my mate and he was just like, 'Yeah, I just turned up.' "I was like, 'Right, I'll do a bit of revision, I'll be fine,' and I missed by one. I was like 'urgh! Rage bait!'"
Lindblad does not plan on spending too much time having lessons, either, saying: "Maybe I'm very naive, but my plan was to have a lesson to learn about all the – I don't know, maybe silly is not the right word – but the things that the instructors are very hot on. Checking your mirrors multiple times, you have 10 and two on the hands [on the steering wheel], all those sorts of basic stuff that aren't really actually proper driving, to make sure I'm on top of all of that, so I don't get caught off guard.
"I was going to go to the tests, and in the end, I've driven still quite a lot on the road, because I'm allowed to with my mum, so I'm very comfortable on the road. I can park well and all of that stuff, so it would be more just to learn about the small things."
