Fans call Inter Miami a ‘washed club’ after 2-2 San Diego draw, claiming they’re ‘just stressing Messi every match’

Inter Miami fans have vented their frustration after the Herons surrendered another lead in a 2-2 draw with San Diego FC, with several supporters turning their attention towards the club’s defence.

Lionel Messi scored a stunning free kick to level the match after Anders Dreyer had put San Diego ahead, before Luis Suarez gave Miami the lead in the second half.

However, Dreyer struck again in the 82nd minute to deny Inter Miami all three points and extend their winless MLS run to four matches. Messi also saw three late efforts saved as Miami remained third in the Eastern Conference.

The result prompted a furious response online, with supporters questioning how Miami could continue conceding after Messi and Suárez had helped put them ahead.

One fan wrote, “This washed club can’t even keep a lead until 90 min, they just be stressing Messi every match”.

Another was particularly critical of the defence, posting, “UR DEFENDERS *** SHIIT GET NEW ONES &KICK SUAREZ &BERT!

Messi keep scoring &assiting &providing insane assists &m** still miss tap in!&Defenders can’t defend for few minutes!! F** them they wasting Messi hardwork He’s 40 &still dealing with his father loss yall should be ASHAMED!”

The same frustration was echoed by another supporter, who wrote, “babes it’s always messi suarez g/a masterclass and then the disaster in the back. are we not tired 🫩 you’re lucky we drew bc the absolute horror in the back”.

Others pointed towards Miami’s goalscoring record while questioning the defensive performances. “What YOU GUYS don’t understand YOU HAVE scored highest no of goals 63 in tournament YET YOU ARE LOSING GET BERTE OUT SIGN DEFENDERS!” one fan posted.

Another supporter added, “I’ve seen some honking defences but this miami team are shocking!! They literally cannot mark or defend properly!!”

The frustration was summed up by the simple question, “When will Inter Miami win a game?”

One supporter instead aimed criticism at Suárez, writing, “I’m convinced Inter Miami is Suárez’s team. Messi doesn’t matter, winning doesn’t matter, the team’s future doesn’t matter, and apparently the fans don’t matter either. As long as Suárez gets his 90 minutes and stays happy, that’s all that matters. @Jorge__Mas @InterMiamiCF”.

Another went even further, saying, “If Inter Miami want to achieve something they should get rid of Messi and those useless defenders”.

Inter Miami will now look to end their run of four straight MLS draws when they travel to face the Columbus Crew on September 27, with Messi continuing to lead the league’s scoring charts.
