Fever’s Raven Johnson reveals the origin of ‘Hollywood’ nickname to Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston

Indiana Fever guard Raven Johnson discussed her viral nickname with teammate Aliyah Boston and WNBA legend Candace Parker.
Johnson is a rookie with the Fever and has averaged 10.3 minutes per game in a competitive season for the franchise.
While she’s behind the supersonic guard pairing of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell on the Fever bench, she has generated a big fan following for her flashy persona.
Johnson appeared on ‘Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston,’ and revealed that an AAU coach gave her the nickname that everyone knows her by now.
“You know that store, Justice, with all the sparkle stuff? I came to practice dressed in Justice from head to toe, just glittered out. So, my AAU coach started calling me Hollywood.”
“I just wanted to look good. When I look good, I feel good. Period. I always try to look good, make sure my hair is always done.”
Johnson came into the WNBA after winning two NCAA National Championships with Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks.
She won the 2026 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and is still remembered for her defensive performance on now-teammate Clark in the 2024 Championship game.
MORE RAVEN JOHNSON STORIES
Johnson was teammates with Boston in South Carolina as well, with the duo now reunited on the Indiana Fever.
While Johnson might not appear to have a major role in the Fever’s squad before the upcoming playoffs, a big-game specialist like her could make potentially game-altering cameos.
She’s averaged 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 35 games as a rookie.
Her defensive talent could be incredibly useful in certain matchups, although it’s hard to imagine her playing over Mitchell or Clark unless one of the two is having a very bad game.
Johnson has lived up to her ‘Hollywood’ nickname over her NCAA career, but now she will be looking to do that in the WNBA with the high-profile Fever.
