The Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fight is well and truly on and a report has revealed when and where the biggest British boxing bout in history will take place.

Lengthy negotiations over the fight's location and date had unfolded ever since Fury and Joshua formally signed their respective deals in April. A back and forth between Eddie Hearn and TKO's Dana White had fans questioning whether the two Brits would actually collide this year.

White wanted the fight in the United States but Hearn refused and even claimed that Joshua had turned down an offer to move the location to Madison Square Garden. They continued to push for the bout against Fury to take place on British soil and they look to have succeeded.

American sportswriter Dan Rafael has given an update on the Joshua vs Fury fight and it will be to the delight of British boxing fans. He wrote on X that if the heavyweight clash is 'buttoned up' it will be on December 11th in Cardiff, which means the Principality Stadium will be hosting the spectacle.

Other dates reportedly proposed included November 28th and December 4th, and Rafael noted that it would 'still take some time to wrap up the bureaucracy of getting permits in place.' There have been suggestions that confirmation will come next week as Hearn made clear on Wednesday that White is not promoting the fight.

Joshua and Fury's fight has been a dream for British boxing for years and there had been fears that it would never occur given they are entering the latter stages of their careers. Both were back in the ring this year in tune-up fights to prepare for one another.

Fury scored a seven-round stoppage win over Mariusz Wach in July after he defeated Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov back in April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After winning via unanimous decision, he exchanged words with Joshua, who had been watching from ringside, and the Gypsy King demanded they face one another.

Joshua put his boxing gloves back on for the first time since his involvement in a fatal car crash back in December that took the lives of his two friends Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele. In July, he knocked out Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in the second round after being knocked down twice in the first.

While it's usually the two boxers who bump heads with verbal spats to hype up fights, it's been Hearn and White who have produced all the entertainment thus far. A power struggle has ensued between the two promoters over who is running the show.

White previously claimed that Hearn had tried preventing the fight from happening and alleged that he had halted negotiations. But Joshua's promoter made clear that wouldn't be necessary given the contracts are already signed.

Hearn told iFL TV: "Dana White has tried to get involved in a fight that he has nothing to do with and to get Sela to break their contract, scrap a British fight, and bring it to America. He thinks that he’s not causing a problem in this fight? All we have ever done is said, ‘We’ve signed our contract. Just honour the contract that we’ve signed."

He added: "We’ve never done anything else and what he can’t get his head around is that Anthony Joshua won’t take a little bit more money to do the fight in America, because he cares. He cares where the fight is. He cares about British boxing, and he cares about the contract that he signed."

Hearn suggested that White had tried to pay Joshua off to take the fight over to the United States: "And Dana White thinks you can throw a little bit of money at someone and they’ll dance to your f*cking tune. Well, guess what? Not on A.J.’s watch. That is why, unfortunately for these people, the fight will not be taking place in America, because Anthony Joshua is not a sellout."

It's believed that the fight will have a late start time in the UK so that American viewers can watch it but the Principality Stadium now looks set to host the biggest all-British showdown. The 74,000 capacity stadium previously hosted Joshua's win over Joseph Parker in March 2018 and Joe Calzaghe's win over Mikkel Kessler in November 2007.
