Former Linnets striker earns first senior Wales call-up

Former King’s Lynn Town striker Joe Taylor could become a full Wales international less than five years after making his solitary appearance for the Linnets.
The 23-year-old has received his first senior call-up after being drafted into Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad as a replacement for the injured Nathan Broadhead.
Taylor, who is now enjoying an impressive start to the season with League One Huddersfield Town, will link up with the Dragons for their four forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
Wales travel to Portugal and Denmark before hosting Norway and Denmark in League A Group 4.
For Linnets supporters, Taylor’s rise through the football pyramid has been particularly impressive given that his brief spell at The Walks came during the early stages of his senior career.
The Peterborough-born frontman made just one appearance for Lynn, featuring in a National League defeat against Solihull Moors.
He left The Walks to join Peterborough United in November 2021 and has since continued his progress through the Football League.
Taylor has gone on to represent Luton Town, Colchester United, Lincoln City and Wigan Athletic before joining current club Huddersfield.
His first Wales senior call-up follows an excellent start to the new campaign, with the striker finding the net five times in his opening seven appearances for the Terriers.
Taylor qualifies to represent Wales through his grandmother and is no stranger to the international set-up, having previously made three appearances at Under-21 level.
Should he be handed his senior debut during the forthcoming Nations League games, it would mark another significant milestone in a career which has taken him from the non-league game to the international stage.
Taylor also has plenty of other Norfolk connections.
He spent time in Norwich City’s academy as a youngster before later playing non-league football for Swaffham Town and Wroxham.
But it was his spell with the Yachstmen and his short stay with King’s Lynn that came immediately before the move to Peterborough, which helped launch his Football League career.
