Former WWE champion Jake Hager underwent emergency surgery after Power Slap injury as update issued

Jake Hager’s partner has posted an update on his health following his Power Slap loss.

Blood started to come out of Hager’s eye following the shot that ended his third contest in Power Slap.

The footage from the match wasn’t replayed during the broadcast, with Dana White revealing that he made this decision when sharing his reaction to the injury.

Doctors hadn’t seen this kind of injury before, though the UFC president assured that they would spare no expense to get the athlete the specialist help that he needed.

Let us know in the comments which injury inside the Octagon was the hardest to watch.

Jake Hager has been stopped in Power Slap before, but the way his recent match ended was unlike anything that most people have ever seen.

Via Slap News on Instagram, the former WWE star’s partner issued a statement on his health and confirmed that he underwent emergency surgery.

“Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you’ve shown Jake during this difficult time,” said Patricia Blackburn, who has also competed in Power Slap. “Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery.

“We’re taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know. Thank you for being there for Jake. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.”

Hager is best known for the 11-year run he had in WWE as Jack Swagger, where he won the World Heavyweight Championship among other titles.

When he left the promotion in 2017, he decided to he decided to pursue a career in MMA briefly.

Hager produced back-to-back first-round submission wins in Bellator, before his strong start to this new career hit a bump when his clash with Anthony Garrett ended in a no contest due to groin strikes.

He competed one more time for Bellator in 2020, returning from a year off and coming out on top in a split decision with Brandon Calton.
