Gibson and Fisk write names in record books as title-winning seconds get party started

A record-breaking ninth-wicket partnership helped Bishop’s Stortford II end their title-winning season on a high against Ickwell.
Betsy Gibson and Lia Fisk produced an unbeaten 116-run stand in just 12 overs as the Hertfordshire Women’s League Championship winners claimed a 101-run home victory.
Stortford were asked to bat first and found themselves in trouble at 90-6 before Emily Holmes (20), Esmé Maxwell (10) and Alice Lowe (27) steadied the ship.
Gibson and Fisk then stole the show, with the former smashing seven fours on her way to 55no - her maiden half-century in ladies’ cricket - and the latter making a brilliant 33.
It meant Stortford posted 226-8 from their 30 overs, which proved more than enough for the champions.
Ickwell struggled to build any momentum with the bat as Gibson added two wickets to her efforts with the bat and there was also a brace for Libby Hughes, with their opponents being dismissed for 125.
“From record-breaking partnerships to outstanding individual performances, this has been an incredible season for the squad,” said team coach and manager Darren Bennett.
“Huge congratulations to every player who has contributed throughout the campaign.”
