▪ With a 4-1 victory over Attleboro, King Philip girls’ soccer coach Gary Pichel claimed his 300th career win. He won 111 games in 10 seasons at Nipmuc, including back-to-back state titles in 2005-06. After one year at Hudson Catholic (12 wins), he arrived at KP 16 years ago and has racked up 177 wins with the Warriors, capturing back-to-back Hockomock Kelley-Rex titles and two state semifinal appearances.

Walpole (4-2) went up 21-0 in the first half as Blake Pileski completed 7 of 7 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns to Shane Harrington. From there, it was all defense.

“Coach Chris Sullivan and his staff did an outstanding job preparing their team,” Patriots Hall of Famer Andre Tippett said after delivering a $1,000 donation from the Kraft family and Patriots Charitable foundation. “Shutting out one of the top offensive teams in the state speaks to the discipline, toughness, and commitment of these young men.”

The big one dropped Sunday when Xaverian quarterback Will Wood announced he was switching his commitment from Penn State to Boston College, citing a desire to stay closer to home, as well as his connection with the Eagles’ coaching staff.
