Grasso Eyes Title Shot With Win Over Fiorot

Alexa Grasso meets Manon Fiorot in a high-stakes flyweight matchup at Noche UFC this Saturday at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, with both fighters chasing another crack at the vacant title.

Grasso rebounded from back-to-back losses with a brutal first-round finish of Maycee Barber in March, delivering what many called one of the most violent knockouts in women's MMA history. Fiorot pushed Valentina Shevchenko the full distance in a title fight last year and stopped Jasmine Jasudavicius inside one round in Vancouver last October. With Shevchenko out following an injury and the belt now vacant, Saturday's clash between the division's second and third-ranked contenders carries immediate championship implications.

"I think it's a fight that has to be," Grasso told MMA Junkie. "She's No. 2, I'm No. 3. We both fought for the title, we both want to fight for the title again." The former champion acknowledged the challenge ahead but said she thrives on difficult matchups. "I love challenges because they make me grow and they can make me better," she added.

Oddsmakers have installed Fiorot as a sizable favorite at minus-250, per FanDuel, with Grasso closing at plus-195. A Fiorot decision is the shortest price on the board at minus-155. The French striker's speed and volume have carried her through most opponents, while Grasso's boxing and submission threats offer the clearest paths to an upset. MMA Mania analyst Andrew Richardson compared the stylistic matchup to Grasso's loss against Natalia Silva, where the Mexican struggled with an opponent's quickness and range. "She was consistently outworked at range, beaten to the punch and couldn't get her wrestling going," Richardson noted.

Grasso said she won't look past Saturday but knows a strong performance keeps her close to the biggest goal she wants. "Last fight was amazing," she said. "I have to break my own expected things." Fiorot has won four straight since her title fight loss, and her karate background translates to sharp kicks and a high output at distance. The bout anchors the main card on Paramount Plus, with weigh-ins scheduled for Friday morning.
