‘Haven’t been wrong...’ NBA fans shocked as ESPN rank one team below LA Clippers in power rankings

Despite the dire situation the LA Clippers find themselves in, ESPN experts believe one NBA team will be far worse than them.

The LA Clippers were fined $30 million and five first-round picks following the NBA’s investigation into allegations of circumventing the salary cap.

And with Kawhi Leonard’s trade to the Toronto Raptors being finalised, many fans believed that the Clippers would be the worst team in the NBA this season.

Speaking on NBA Today, ESPN insider and former Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks provided fans with a preview of his upcoming power rankings ahead of the NBA season.

He revealed that the LA Clippers are ranked 29th in their power rankings, with only the Sacramento Kings ranking below them.

“We’ve got a piece coming out on our future power rankings. 29th in the future power rankings… Sacramento (are below).”

Some fans were shocked as to how the Sacramento Kings, despite all their flaws, could be ranked below the disastrous LA Clippers.

One fan furiously stated, “Two All-Stars but somehow the Clippers are better? Get the f— out! Sabonis and Keegan are the most valuable players on the team, and they missed hella games last year!”

Another fan added, “Can we suspend the Sacramento ownership for a year or two?”

A third fan fired a more sincere critique of ESPN, noting, “Sacramento just had a great draft. They’ll have cap space next summer. And they have the kinds of players contenders overpay for at the trade deadline. This making fun of the Kings stuff feels lazy.”

“Bobby Marks is trying too hard to be cool/funny. Bad journalism,” wrote a fourth fan who didn’t find Marks’ ranking of the Kings to be accurate.

A fifth fan went at Marks and poked fun at his time as an executive, saying, “Can’t say your opinions have ever been relevant. Maybe I should rank your deals as an assistant GM for the Nets, Bobby.”

And lastly, one fan came to the defence of the LA Clippers, claiming, “People are underestimating the Clippers massively. Yes, they lost Kawhi, but come on, 29th?”

Clearly, neither Clippers fans nor Kings fans are too happy with the prognostications of their offseason from Marks and ESPN.

It’s hard to disagree with Marks, given how poor both teams have been in the offseason. But there is certainly an argument to be made that both are ranked too low.

Perhaps the ESPN analyst will be forced to reckon with his rankings later in the season if the Kings and Clippers overdeliver.
