HENLEY’S Shanaya Yasin was part of a five-strong Oxfordshire U12s girls’ side that topped the LTA County Cup girls Group B table in Bideford, Devon.

Yasin, who lives in Nicholas Road, trains at Peppard Common Tennis Club and regularly practises with her brother Ayden and father.

Up first against Devon, Oxon secured all four singles matches to produce a dead rubber heading into the doubles. The girls then stormed straight into their singles against the Channel Islands, again securing all four singles wins.

The day one evening was all about the doubles, and with both rubbers already secured, Oxfordshire were able to test out new pairings and tactics. Oxfordshire won one out of the two doubles against Devon, ending the rubber 5-1, and then managed to pull through and secure both doubles wins against the Channel Islands, locking in their first 6-0 rubber of the weekend.

Day two saw Oxfordshire defeat Cornwall 5-1 and Somerset 6-0 to complete a winning weekend. Oxfordshire ended the weekend winning 44 sets to seven.
