Henry Cejudo reveals he has ‘a lot of weight’ to lose for Deen The Great boxing fight

Henry Cejudo will need to get down almost 20lb from his last wrestling match in order to make his boxing debut later this month.
Former two-weight UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist Cejudo will take on Deen The Great in his first professional boxing match on September 26. The Misfits Boxing clash will see him move into yet another new discipline after conquering freestyle wrestling and MMA.
'Triple C' called out Cody Garbrandt after beating Merab Dvalishvili in Cleveland.
Cejudo was the flyweight champion in the UFC – getting as low as 125lb – but most recently tipped the scales at 155lb for his match with Merab Dvalishvili in Cleveland last month. He will have to make 136lb to face the streamer within two weeks.
After retiring from his UFC career in December, Henry Cejudo returned to action in February with a Tech Fall win over Urijah Faber in RAF Wrestling. He then wrestled long-time rival Merab Dvalishvili twice before signing up for this Misfits Boxing match with Deen The Great.
Cejudo’s last UFC fight was at bantamweight against Payton Talbott, and he has remained in the region of 155lb for his wrestling bouts. He will need to get back down again in order to face Deen at an agreed weight of 136lb.
Speaking exclusively with Bloody Elbow ahead of the show at James L Knight Center, Cejudo admitted that “I’ve got to lose a lot of weight and I am losing a lot of weight for that… He’s Deen The B—-, get that straight.
“It was about a year ago I was asked if I wold box Deen and I was like ‘yeah, I never really thought about it but sure.
“Then a couple of months ago I got the call to see if I was down to box Deen The Snake and I said ‘yeah, man, easy work’. This guy has already been elbowed and slapped so it’s time for him to get tea bagged by me.
“I’m coming to finish him – once I get my hands on his little neck I wish I could strangle him. That little h— is going to get it, dude.”
