Herb Dean told to retire from refereeing by Henry Cejudo who piles in on UFC 332 criticism

Henry Cejudo believes Herb Dean should be fired after making another mistake at UFC 332.
This past Saturday, the premier promotion returned to Salt Lake City, Utah, for UFC 332, headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong.
The 14 fight card ended up setting a new UFC record for the most finishes on a single event with 11, but it didn’t come without at least a little bit of controversy.
Veteran referee Herb Dean has once again found himself in the firing line, after his role in the lightweight fight between King Green and Esteban Ribovics.
Green was brutally knocked out by Ribovics in the first round, and despite at the time it not seeming like an entirely controversial stoppage, Green criticized Dean for his role in the stoppage. The 40-year-old took to his live stream after the fight saying that he asked Dean to let him ‘go out on his shield’.
Dana White joined in on the Dean criticism following the event, admitting that the veteran referee has had a ‘rough f—— year’. And now just a few days removed from the event, the criticism isn’t showing any signs of letting up, as UFC legend Henry Cejudo has now exploded on the 56-year-old.
‘Triple C’ has said that Dean should no longer be in a job, calling for him to be fired from his duties as an MMA official.
“Speaking of robbery, your boy Herb Dean, that dude has just been f—–, man, he’s got to be (fired), it’s just ridiculous, dude, it’s ridiculous that the Nevada State Athletic Commission (keep him) and he even still has a job, in my opinion. Nobody likes this dude anymore, they show him on camera and he gets booed, there’s no accountability whatsoever, it’s a mafia,” Cejudo said on the recent Pound 4 Pound episode.
Despite Cejudo’s comments, though, his co-host Kamaru Usman attempted to defend Dean’s stoppage of Green’s fight. “If you put yourself in a vulnerable position, to where you give him a reason to potentially stop it, it’s very difficult to be upset with it later, his job in there is to protect you.”
It hasn’t been the best year for Dean, as earlier this year he found himself in hot water with Alex Pereira, who created a petition to ban Dean from refereeing after he failed to reprimand Ciryl Gane for illegal shots to the back of Pereira’s head in their UFC Freedom 250 fight.
“It’s just endless, dude, I think he just needs to take a break from fighting, he needs to step aside,” Cejudo added.
