Day 1- District Tournament at Skagit Valley College

Thirteen singles players and 13 doubles teams were finally able to get their 3A District 1 tournament underway on Wednesday. The two-day tournament was originally scheduled to be played at Snohomish High School on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28. However, when Tuesday’s matchups were postponed due to weather, the tournament was moved to the covered courts of Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon.

The first day of the tournament took place on Wednesday. Three singles players and three doubles teams won their conference tournaments last week (Wesco 3A South, Wesco 3A North and the 3A Northwest Conference) and received an opening-round bye, automatically advancing to the District quarterfinals. The other 10 singles and 10 doubles teams played a loser-out opening-round match.

Opening round and quarterfinal matches concluded on Wednesday evening. The tennis players who survived elimination were scheduled to return to Skagit Valley College to wrap up the tournament on Thursday, Oct. 29, beginning at 9 a.m.

Four singles players and four doubles players will eventually advance out of the double-elimination tournament to qualify for the state tournament, held in May 2027.
